Mark Loseth has been a trail professional for over 20 years. Through work for the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, American Conservation Experience, and as a facilitator for collaborative outdoor recreation planning, he has learned how to create and improve sustainable trails that are a joy to use. Those lessons (especially when learned the hard way) are the foundation for the Raven Trails approach to trail skills training and trail management services. Mark is continually inspired by the landscapes and people of the trail community and has combined the skills learned with a passion for teaching to provide trainings for field based trail skills.

Mark has been described as being “enthusiastic”, “comprehensive”, and “fun to work with” and brings his joy and enthusiasm for trails to every training and project. With his coffee cup and whiteboard in hand, Mark creates a learning environment that encourages everyone to be a part of seeing the trail together. We learn together the forces that act on the trail, the experiences we want to have, and how to balance the environmental and human elements to do good trail work that lasts, all while having fun doing it!
